    Just steps from campus, downtown Northfield offers classic Vermont charm.

    Enjoy quiet spots to unwind between sessions or grab a bite at student-favorite eateries. From handcrafted goods to freshly brewed coffee, the unique local businesses in Northfield offer something for every taste, or to just enjoy the charm of small-town life. 

    It's an easy trip to walk or drive to Saylor's Falls, a perfect spot for some photo opportunities. You’ll find it near the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street.

    Take a drive to see Vermont’s iconic covered bridges and inquire about scenic hiking trails on campus at the Shaw Outdoor Center. Whether you’re into a short walk or a longer adventure, the stunning views make it worth every step.

    Extend your visit to nearby cities and towns. 

    Montpelier, the capital city, is roughly 10 miles from Northfield and offers dining, boutique shops, and arts venues. 

    Waterbury is about 25 miles from Northfield and provides access to local shops, restaurants, and serves as a gateway to Stowe. 

    Burlington at roughly 52 miles away offers the lakeside waterfront, cultural attractions, and city-level amenities,

    Waitsfield is around 16 miles from Northfield offers a scenic valley-town vibe and makes a great quick trip for a relaxed Vermont experience. 

    Whether you're looking for a quick excursion or a full-day adventure, these nearby towns give you even more ways to explore Vermont while visiting Norwich.

Getting To ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ°

Train

The nearest train station is in Montpelier, about 11 miles north of campus.

Norwich offers a Winter Break shuttle service to and from the Montpelier Amtrak station.


Greyhound

The nearest bus station is in Montpelier, directly in front of City Hall.

Airlines

Vermont has commercial airline services available to and from  in South Burlington. Airport ground transportation includes , taxi (see below), Greyhound bus (see above), or carpooling with friends. The airport is about 46 miles from campus.

ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ° often offers limited transportation to and from Burlington Airport for the longer vacation breaks based on the majority needs.

Some students also use the  in New Hampshire to expand their choice of flights. However, Manchester, New Hampshire, is further away—about 127 miles from campus.


Burlington International Airport shuttle service

The provides airport shuttle and ride sharing coordination services between the ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ° campus and Burlington International Airport. They request that on-line reservations be made at least 24 hours in advance.


Car rental

The nearest car rental agency is  in Berlin, Vermont, between Montpelier and Barre. They pick up local customers at no extra charge. Identify yourself as a Norwich student or employee to receive discounted rates.

Preregistration: Space is limited. Walk on riders may not be accepted. Please register, in advance, by checking below the listing for the date you need shuttle service. Enter the student's name (not parent/guardian) as the registrant for the shuttle.

Contact Information: Please also include the best contact phone number for the student traveling when you register in case we need to contact the student on the day of travel.

Luggage Restrictions: One large luggage item and one carry-on-sized bag per passenger.

Cancellation policy: In the event that a shuttle needs to be canceled, refunds will be issued to the card on file within 3-5 business days, and an email notification will be sent to shuttle registrants.
