CAPT Edgardo Moreno NU'93 Retires from the Navy after 30 Years of Service
Norwich alumnus CAPT Edgardo Moreno crowned 30 years of service to his nation at a special retirement ceremony held last week at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL.
Serving as the commanding officer of the Naval Aviation Schools Command (NASC) since 2020, Moreno’s work at NASC afforded him the privilege of pouring back into the next generation of Naval service men and women.
NASC is where naval aviators, flight officers, aircrewmen, and rescue swimmers start their aviation careers. Over the last three years, Moreno oversaw training for over 16,000 students.
In a full-circle moment, Moreno accepted his certificate of retirement onboard the Naval Air Station Pensacola, the same place his naval tenure began as a carrier-based helicopter pilot three decades ago.
This proud member of Norwich’s Class of 1993 hopes to continue his career as an educator and says that his immediate plans include securing a teaching position at the University of West Florida.
