Newly elected Vermont Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers visited ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ° on Saturday, January 18. While on campus, he was honored by conducting a ceremonial puck drop during the men’s hockey intrastate rivalry game between the ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ° Cadets and visiting Vermont State University – Castleton Spartans.
Upon their arrival on campus, the Lieutenant Governor and his wife, Brenda, were greeted by William Kolb and Cadet Forrester Belanger, two ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ° students currently serving as interns in the Lieutenant Governor’s office. The interns proudly walked the couple throughout the athletic facilities at ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ°, including taking time to watch Coach Ute Otley and the Norwich women’s basketball team’s game. Throughout the tour, elements of Norwich’s rich history and deep Vermont connections were discussed.
The Lieutenant Governor was welcomed to campus by LtGen John Broadmeadow, USMC (Ret), 25th President of ÂÜÀò¼ÒÔ°, prior to the ceremonial puck drop. The two held their initial conversation surrounded by excited Cadet men’s hockey players preparing to take the ice. It was the first of several meaningful conversations they were able to have during the day. Concurrently, the Lieutenant Governor also engaged in several conversations with multiple Vermonters who shared words of encouragement and discussed issues of personal significance.
